STUNNING TRIPLE DISC SET OF EARLY FLOYD RADIO BROADCASTS Formed in London in 1965 by Syd Barrett (guitar, lead vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass guitar, vocals) and Richard Wright (keyboards, vocals), Pink Floyd had previously undergone previous incarnations and names before officially operating under the Pink Floyd moniker. Under Barrett's leadership, they released two charting singles and the successful debut album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (1967). Guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour joined in December 1967, following which Barrett left in April 1968 due to deteriorating mental health. Waters became the primary lyricist and thematic leader, devising the concepts behind the band's peak success. This new 3CD Boxed set celebrates and documents Floyd’s early, post-Barret era, the time the band released such legendary albums as A Saucerful of Secrets, Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother and Meddle, and during which they produced a number of stunning sessions and live shows for FM radio broadcast.

Good quality recordings from the early days of this pioneering band, though most fans will probably own most of the tracks from the first 2 cds, from The BBC's Top Gear and John Peel sessions. The third cd is from Altes Casino, Switzerland 1970 and once again good quality especially as they are over 50 years old. For me anything like this is a joy to have, long may these rare recordings continue turning up at a not so extortionate price.

The third CD is exceptional - great playing and great material. The first CD has some good stuff, and showcases his roots and development of a fine technique. The second CD is great but the gems of this collection are all on the 3rd. It is flawless. Classic Beck. A masterclass in guitar playing. Five stars plus. Listen and enjoy. RIP Jeff.
