Talking Heads formed in 1975 in New York City. The original line up comprised three former art school students who had emerged from the New York punk scene. The trio featured lead vocalist and guitarist David Byrne, drummer Chris Frantz and bassist Tina Weymouth. The edgy stage presence of singer Byrne gave the band a sharp disconcerting power and Talking Heads became a cornerstone of the new wave music phenomenon. In 1978 Talking Heads were augmented by the addition of Jerry Harrison on keyboards and guitar.
The live to air broadcast by WXRT FM, from Park West, Chicago 23rd August 1978 which forms Disc 1 of this set showcases the band live on stage during the More Songs About Buildings and Food era. Disc 2 is taken from a KSAN broadcast only a month later when the band were performing at The Boarding House, San Francisco on 16th September 1978. Disc 3 Represents the band in action a year later during the Fear Of Music Tour. This performance is from the Berklee Performing Arts Centre, at Boston s prestigious Berklee School of Music and was broadcast live on 24th August 1979. The set features the hit single Life During Wartime .
Talking Heads were soon at work expanding their musical parameters even further and by 1982 Talking Heads on stage were a very different proposition to what had gone before as Disc 4 clearly demonstrates. The FM broadcast from the Werchterpark Festival in Belgium on 4th July 1982 features the expanded line-up.
